I’m not sure if my fascination with shows like Hannibal came from my current writing project or if they caused it. All I know now is that some of my favorite shows to watch right now are all about murder.
Hannibal of course is about a little more than murder. For those who don’t recognize the name, the show is based on a book series by Thomas Harris. And the character was later brought to life by Anthony Hopkins in a series of films. One of the most famous being Silence of The Lambs.
The show however, stars Mads Mikkelsen as the Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and in my not so humble opinion he did a fabulous job. Mads played Dr. Lecter’s sophistication, and calculated actions with such grace, I’m a little hesitant to eat anything resembling meat ever again.
Side by side with Hannibal, the show follows Will Graham a gifted, or as he might say cursed, profiler with the FBI on the hunt for serial killers. Will has the unique ability to empathize with a killer, to track their logic and eventually use that to track them.
Will’s boss, worried for his sanity, employs Dr. Lecter to be Will’s psychologist and together thw pair embark on one of the wildest jounerys and murder hunts Ive ever seen on television.
As you watch you get drawn in to Will as he spirals out of control. You get drawn to Hannibal as he moves pieces around his chess board. Its almost absurdly romantic how the two interact. It’s three seasons of unadulterated canablistic crazy.
If you can stomach it,I give Hannibal a big ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
