The truth is written on all our faces….at least thats what Cal Lightman says, the lead character in Lie To Me. A show that quickly became one of my favorites a few years ago.
From episode 1 the show drew me in. Cal Lightman is quirky and strange and dedicated to the truth, despite being an almost pathological liar in his own life.
Cal’s story is based on real sicence by Paul Ekman, and it is about how emotions and by connection lies are visible on our faces and bodies every time we feel something. Cal asks endless questions and each time he spots the truth you learn a littl more about how to read lies on someones face. From the wau they try to fake surpise or their lip twitches in disgust. Its fascinating.
What’s even more facinating is how many scraps Cal gets into and still mantains his goofy eccentricity.
Some episodes are better than others, like any show, but Lightman is fantastic in all of them. He’s a sicentist, boss, friend,and father at all times. He is firecely determined to know the truth in everything. I want to work for Cal Lightman!
